Community-Based Programs
Working with police officers, educators, and community leaders, Lead By Example Reverse The Trend’s outreach focuses on communities plagued by violence and crime, offering support to parents and children to address and stem the tide of trouble before it becomes systemic.
NYC Board of Education public school programs
Working closely with the NYC Board of Education, Lead By Example Reverse The Trend’s in-school program engages teachers and educators to identify and reach students at risk. Students in the program receive special one-on-one and group mentoring, homework supervision, and conflict counseling. The program is designed to help students with day-to-day issues that stop them achieving their true potential, and encourage personal development and growth. Students receive credit points for their participation.
Shut 'Em Down
Fridays
Each Friday, Lead By Example Reverse The Trend’s mentors set up on blocks around the city where there’s been a recent shooting or gang violence to reach young people in trouble and offer support to their parents. Mentors make themselves available 24/7 to parents worried for their child’s safety and are willing to enter any neighborhood and put themselves between knives and guns to save young people’s lives.
